A Cute ‘N’ Cuddly Sharktoplush

Beware the attack of the Sharktoplush!

Mutant monsters have become all the rage on the Syfy Channel, but let’s face it, they’re C-movies masquerading as B-movies and a slap in the face to those of us who love cool monster films like Godzilla, Gamera and War of The Gargantuas. (Not to forget the recent Monsters.) But channel execs have openly stated that they are purposely making camp pictures, and there’s evidently enough of a cheese whiz factor to draw millions of viewers to Syfy on Saturday nights to watch creature features like Sharktopus, Mega Piranha, Dinocroc vs. Supergator and the forthcoming Mega Python Vs. Gatoroid. Some fans are even contemplating future species hybrid movies.

While I have general disdain for these latest TV abominations, Anchor Bay’s press people recently sent me a cool Sharktopus plush doll to promote the March 15th DVD release of that flick. I don’t care if I ever see this movie, but this Sharktoplush is awesome. I’ll be curious if they ever release it commercially to toy stores and other retail outlets. Kids (and many adults) would eat it up. No pun intended.

I got mine from the DVD publicist as a limited edition promotional item. But I believe there is talk of marketing them.

Anchor Bay was giving out a few of them as trivia prizes at the recent Texas Frightmare Weekend.
