Creepy Clip: Scary Mary Poppins

You always thought Mary Poppins was a charming, sweet, quirky and liberated individual…until now. Chris Rule created a reimagined movie trailer five years ago, and his twisted new take on this classic children’s tale includes an eerie audio mash-up of ‘A Violent Attack’ by Caine Davidson from the fear flick An American Haunting, ‘Stay Awake’ by Richard and Robert Sherman from the film Mary Poppins and stock sounds from iMovie. The new, spooky trailer feels more like The Exorcist than a family-friendly affair. Mary becomes downright scary and scares the bejeezus out of the wealthy Banks clan. (And think of the promotional taglines: “It’s a jolly horror day for Mary!” “A spoonful of terror!”) Too bad more parents and nannies today don’t inspire such fear and respect from their bratty children.

A spoonful of sugar won’t help this medicine go down.
