The Most Dazzling Glassworks Exhibit Ever

While Dale Chihuly is a huge name in the world of glass art, I only recently discovered his work through a current exhibit at the Museum Of Fine Arts in Boston. Chihuly’s creations, forged by a talented team of artisans that follows his specific instructions, are mesmerizing pieces of art that look like living sculptures, and they have been exhibited in public, not only in notable buildings but literally outdoors. Walking through the various exhibits, some of which resemble beautiful alien landscapes, it’s hard not to think of the vibrantly colorful pieces as organic lifeforms; their shapes, contours and structural complexity are simply stunning to behold. Chihuly’s glass art has been seen in three films (the last of which was A.I.: Artificial Intelligence a decade ago), and one would think Hollywood would utilize his talents more often. Regardless, public recognition of his work continues to grow, and deservedly so.

The Chihuly exhibit Through The Looking Glass is showing at the MFA in Boston through August 8th. Experience it while you can. If you cannot make it, check out this book.
