If you’ve been anxiously awaiting for a peek at the forthcoming Superman movie, watch the two newly-released trailers below, with voiceover from Superman’s father Jor-El (Russell Crowe). They really are teasers, but presumably these give a good idea of the tone of the film. Directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300), Man Of Steel arrives in theaters on June 14, 2013. The film stars Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane) and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White). Clark’s adoptive parents are being portrayed by Diane Lane and Kevin Costner. The iconic hero will face Kryptonian villain General Zod (Michael Shannon), first seen onscreen in Superman II, and his partner in evil Faora (Antje Traue). Superman’s parents are played by Ayelet Zurer and Russell Crowe.
Like Spider-Man, Superman is getting an early reboot (Superman Returns arrived in 2006), which some might consider overkill as Superman has either been on the small or big screen steadily over the last 20 years, and even before then was seen in a consistent stream of movies, radio broadcasts and TV shows, both animated and live action, since the Forties. Will The Man Of Steel prove to be a worthy addition to his canon? Hopefully this version will offer something new
