Metal’s Night Out

While Fashion’s Night took over Manhattan on Thursday evening, heavy metal commanded two major NYC venues on Friday night. There was the all-star “Metal Masters 4” clinic that shook the Gramercy Theatre and the Accept/Kreator tour that rolled into the Best Buy Theatre. What was a metalhead to do? Choices had to be made, but luckily I had a roundtable interview with Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, Down frontman Phil Anselmo and Slayer axeman Kerry King scheduled prior to the “Metal Masters” clinic, then I lamentably left the Gramercy event early to arrive part way into the awesome Accept set to check out the German legends rock the house, followed by Teutonic thrash legends Kreator, and meet the boys after.

My backstage interview with Metal Masters bassist Billy Sheehan is online now. My video roundtable with Benante, Anselmo and King will be online soon. All in all, it was a star-studded night!

The last time we chatted face-to-face was during a metal roundtable
in Dortmund, Germany with Doro, Hansi Kursch and other Teutonic headbangers.
