Taking on one metal icon in an interview can keep you busy, but imagine interviewing three at once, including two thrashers, in a twelve-minute span. That would make for a high velocity interview, and that’s what A.D.D. got when Bryan Reesman sat down with Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, Down frontman Phil Anselmo and Slayer guitarist Kerry King about two hours before they hit the stage at last Friday’s “Metal Masters 4” clinic at the Gramercy Theatre in NYC.
During the roundtable interview, they discussed underrated metal songs, how they could learn from each other, forming a non-metal trio, their feelings about the Lamb Of God controversy in Prague and what fans might be surprised to learn about them. A.D.D. got an earful!
