UFO Strangers In The Night – “I’ve been getting back to UFO a little bit. My friend Paul Raymond just passed away. I was devastated. I couldn’t believe it. So I’ve been listening Strangers In The Night lately. I don’t know what it is. I think it’s just the atmosphere that’s been caught on the album. It’s just the vibe of the whole thing, the sound of the band in that theater. I forget where they did it. It’s really bombastic in places on some of the songs, a lot more than on the studio recordings. I think it really sounds cool. It’s a brilliant album.”
GENESIS Selling England By The Pound – “I think they’d been experimenting with the albums before that, and they’re good. I liked those as well, but I think they really captured it on Selling England By The Pound, some of the progressive things and the Englishness of what Genesis are about. It solidified a bit more on the album than previous albums.”
OASIS Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants – “Some of their other albums are pretty cool too, but I have a soft spot for them because I’m originally from Manchester. Obviously, they do sound a little bit like the Beatles, but they have their own way of doing it. I think they bring something else besides just sounding like the Beatles. They have really cool melodies, really catchy stuff, and some cool guitar playing. They’re a great band.”
