Hear Tom Morello and Friends Rock Up The “Game Of Thrones” Theme

Six-string bliss is achieved during a Game Of Thrones jam.

Classic heavy metal is beloved for many reasons: Thunderous guitars, epic vocals, and that larger than life quality that empowers its fans. It makes sense, then, that eventually someone would serve up a guitar heavy take on the famed Game Of Thrones theme and rock it up good. Besides, the long-running fantasy series is very metal in its own way.

While doing promo for the all-new Sigil Collection Guitars line at The Fender Custom Shop in Corona, California, Game Of Thrones creator Dan Weiss, composer Ramin Djawadi, rockers Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave), Scott Ian (Anthrax), and Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), and country artist Brad Paisley sat down for a shredding and spontaneous rendition of the now iconic theme song for the massively popular HBO series. The result is simple, dramatic, and infectious, and it’s fun to hear how each player brings their own unique style and tone to the main melody and their individual solos. They’re having a blast too — just look at the smiles in that room as they maintain a strong sense of sonic synchronicity.

I’ll let the music speak for itself. Check it out.
