Side Jams, Episode 15: Richie Faulkner

Figure created by Randy Falk.

Since stepping in to the role of dueling lead guitarist in Judas Priest back in 2011, Richie Faulkner has reinvigorated the classic British metal band including with their 2018 album Firepower, which is considered to be their best since 1990’s Painkiller. His energy and presence, plus his interaction with fans on social media, has led to him being embraced by many Priest aficionados.

It also turns out that Richie is a big Star Wars and sci-fi fans, so for Episode #15 of Side Jams, we talked about what he loves and hates about the franchise. Hes an admitted “orig trig” boy who is passionate and outspoken about how he feels in regards to more recent efforts. We also delved a bit into non-cinematic Star Wars properties and future possibilities for at universe.

Richie spoke to me from his home base of Nashville via Skype, and we had fun debating the merits and detriments of the famed sci-fi franchise and others.

Further, I found out after our chat that my friend and fellow metal maven Randy Falk, who is VP and chief creative officer for toy manufacturer NECA, created an action figure of Richie and gave it to him as a gift. Somehow, that didn’t come up in the our convo, but I thought I’d share the images in this post.

Richie is defending the faith in more ways that one!
