Since she released her self-produced first solo album Violet Touch over 15 years ago, Australian guitar wizard Orianthi has lit up stages and audiences around the world. She was personally picked by Michael Jackson for his This Is It concerts and appears in the film, has toured the world with Alice Cooper twice, and then teamed up with former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora for four years of recording and touring in their group RSO. Her fourth and latest solo album is called O. It’s her first in 7 years and showcases her dazzling six-string skills and signature penchant for combining bluesy rock licks, hard rock attitude, and some pop hooks.
Beyond music, Orianthi loves cooking and traveling. For this episode of Side Jams, we discussed how she grew up with the Greek cuisine of her grandmother, her current pescetarian diet, her passion for creating feasts for family and friends, her plans for a cooking show, and how she makes sure to truly see the world while on tour. From those topics, our conversation ventured into the overall life lessons and wisdom she has accumulated throughout her journey in music, and how she has found balance in her life while continuing to reaffirm her love for guitar.
