Item from Ice Cubes section by Kurt Orzeck, April 2004 issue:Judas Priest fans reveling over Rob Halford’s return to the fold have even more reason to rejoice: May 4 marks the release of a 65-track, four-disc box by the metal titans. Housed in a 7” x 7” leather box with metal studs, Metalogy (Sony/Legacy) contains a previously unreleased demo version of “Heart Of A Lion,” a litter of B-sides, three unissued live recordings and five additional concert cuts making their CD debut. It compiles material the band released on a number of different labels from 1974-2002: Sony/Columbia, CMC International, SPV, Atlantic and JVC. Bryan Reesman, who wrote the liner notes, tells ICE: “’Starbreaker,’ from a late-‘70s concert, takes the song up a notch in terms of heaviness, and features a drum solo, something not associated with Priest, from former drummer Les Binks. And longtime fans will be glad to finally hear a live cut of ‘Hot Rockin’,’ which was an early MTV hit and which they haven’t played live in two decades.” Initial pressings boast a bonus 5.1 surround-sound DVD enshrining a complete show filmed on December 12, 1982 at Mid South in Memphis, TN on the Screaming For Vengeance tour; though originally issued as Judas Priest Live on VHS, it has been out of print for many years. |
