I’m 22 years old, I grew up buying music which touched me in one way or another, but I’m also a person who benefits from the ability to download music for free.

I can easily learn much more music, and then when it is ‘the thing’ I buy it. And “Incident” is the recent example.
Commercial radios won’t die, new people will take over them, but the rules are changing and Britney will go to the basement or to MTV’s reality shows. There’s no place for junk plastic music in a broader scale, because people who enjoy music quickly learn about the worthy music.

I remember playing In Absentia cd on my computer and seeing “Strip the Soul” video embedded in the disc. I thought that was kind of a neat surprise.

I buy the CD’s. Porcupine Tree CD’s are amoung the best sounding audiophile rock CD’s ever recorded. MP3 doesn’t do the sound spectrum justice. Listen to In Absentia on a great stereo and 100 lisyens later there are still subtle sounds you will hear for the first time.

I personally almost never download, and when I do, it is for music that I would never buy anyway. Of course it is a way to know new bands, but afterwhile, if I like it enough to buy it, I do so.

I’ve bought all Porcupine Tree albums, almost all No-Man albums, the two Blackfields, and more.

There’s nothing like holding in your hands an album that makes you feel better.

I do sympathize in a way with what SW says. But I also think because of the IPod I can listen more and on many more moments to PT than I could before! And after I first listened to Deadwing (downloaded) I decided to look for more music of PT. So if the download-scene wasn’t existing, I would never encountered PT.
